The Business Architecture Guild Launches “A Guide to the Business Architecture Body of Knowledge” (BIZBOK™ Guide) 3.0

The Business Architecture Guild is proud to announce a new release of A Guide to the Business Architecture Body of Knowledge (BIZBOK™ Guide) V3.0. Business architecture helps organizations improve customer experience, market analysis, partner alignment, product delivery, merger and acquisition deployment, and business transformation efforts. As demand grows, practitioners are seeking increasingly sophisticated ways to leverage this rapidly growing discipline.

The Business Architecture Guild produces the BIZBOK™ Guide in a series of iterative stages to incorporate the practice-based experience and expertise of Guild members who represent a large and growing community of practice. Each content release builds upon previous releases, expanding the breadth of practice and depth of content. This community of practice represents hundreds of organizations, in multiple industries, across six continents.

The BIZBOK™ Guide V3.0 highlights include expanded capability mapping and value mapping sections, building on business architecture efforts underway across a number of industries. New blueprint sections address product and service mapping, initiative mapping, and stakeholder mapping. The BIZBOK™ Guide V3.0 also focuses on alignment to related business disciplines, including new practice-based sections that align business architecture with the Osterwalder business model framework and Lean Six Sigma, as well as expanded sections on leveraging business architecture in conjunction with case management and business process management.

The BIZBOK™ Guide Part six has been introduced to address business architecture / IT architecture alignment. New sections address business architecture and enterprise architecture, including DoDAF and TOGAF alignment; business architecture and requirements analysis, business architecture and application portfolio management; business architecture and Services Oriented Architecture; business architecture and data architecture; and business-driven business / IT transformation. Additional updates include the early addition of industry reference models, an updated glossary, and various other refinements.

The BIZBOK™ Guide will continue to evolve based on member forums for advanced and interest–based discussions, feedback webinars, collaboration groups and Guild sponsored events. Future releases will continue to reflect best practices as business architecture continues to deliver business value to organizations worldwide.

    What is the Guild Community?

The Guild Community is a replacement for our current forums. It is a private online community designed specifically for professional associations. Our goal in providing this space is three-fold.

    1. We want to build a stronger association for business architecture practitioners from all over the globe.

    2. We want to provide improved and increased opportunities for our members to provide feedback and input to the BIZBOK™. We have established a collaboration team focused on developing our information sharing practices and enabling our collegial, contributory relationships within the Guild Community.

    3. We want to be the place-to-go for Business Architecture knowledge. We are creating A Guide to the Business Architecture Body of Knowledge (BIZBOK™) specifically in support of that goal, and with the addition of the Community we will be able to cultivate a high quality repository of Business Architecture knowledge. In addition to enhanced opportunities for a more sophisticated, satisfying level of discussion than you can find elsewhere, the community provides valuable content management tools such as tagging, search, topic hierarchies, content ratings, file libraries, etc. We hope to make the professional development of Business Architects lot simpler and more rewarding with our collected and maturing knowledgebase.

For more information and how we plan to engage our members in feedback and collaboration , please go to this page.
